There’s no need too small, no task too great
Every mission starts with a brilliant idea. Long before our company was established, our founder and CEO Charles Deguire was a young man supporting and assisting three of his uncles living with muscular dystrophy. Inspired by an ingenious makeshift arm his uncle Jacques invented to allow himself to pick up objects, Charles made it his mission to take this idea far beyond his uncle’s design.
After years of hard work along with co-founder Louis-Joseph Caron L’Écuyer, when the mission finally came to fruition in 2006, the world was introduced Kinova. Today, with an ever-evolving line of robotic technologies built up over more than a decade of inspired ingenuity, and a dedicated team spanning all corners of the world, our company’s collective mission is — and always will be — to empower humanity to go well beyond its limitations and achieve the extraordinary.
It all comes back to you, the human being.
For us Kinovians, however, achieving this mission isn’t as simple as just developing innovative products. It’s about improving lives through responsible, respectful uses of technology. It’s about collaborating with policy-makers, educators and businesses to ensure our products reach those who need them. It’s about giving you the tools and working with you to ensure they have the desired effect.
The thinking behind every Kinova product is guided entirely by our human-first approach and our desire to empathize with the people for whom we’re designing. To survive and succeed in today’s increasingly complex world, we need to generate devices and services that improve the lives of our customers. Being able to see the world through their eyes, being able to put ourselves in their shoes, is vital to our success.
At the heart of our design thinking, we've developed internal resources that allow us to consult with, listen to and meet the needs of our customers — everything from communications, to coaching, to product development, to technology awareness. Every product, every innovation we develop, is conceived with people in mind.
Every product, every innovation we develop, is conceived with people in mind.
Providing assistive robotics to individuals with mobility limitations is still very much at the heart of what we do, but also we’re undergoing an evolution — one that will allow us to bring our technologies to more humans in more areas of life: research, industry, security, test and control, logistics, surgical and medical intervention, and many more.
Whether empowering someone to achieve their own success, or giving someone the means to positively impact others’ lives, we’re here to serve humanity. It’s not just our job. It’s in our DNA.
