Software quality assurance specialist (SQA specialist)

As a software quality assurance (SQA) specialist, you will manage and oversee all SQA activities related to software development. You will be the owner of the SQA plan and software development process. In this role, you will be responsible to make sure the SQA plan and software development process are well understood and followed by the development team.

You will actively contribute to increasing the quality of Kinova products by deploying and maintaining a set of tools required to continuously monitor the quality of the work done by the development team. You may also lead a small SQA team that will be hands-on in solving quality issues. Moreover, you will be the owner of software releases.

As the SQA specialist, you will perform and host audits and provide reports when required.


Main responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the SQA plan;
  • Review and maintain the software development process;
  • Own the software configuration process;
  • Plan and perform regular SQA training;
  • Enforce the software development process via monitoring and audits;
  • Manage and close CAPA (corrective and preventive actions);
  • Host external audits and collaborate with auditors;
  • Establish and enforce standards, best practices, and conventions;
  • Own, manage and perform software releases;
  • Define and maintain code quality rules and quality profiles of CI/CD environment;
  • Define, measure, and report code quality KPIs;
  • Define, measure, and report system quality KPIs;
  • Perform training sessions about KPI and measurement tools;
  • Manage a small SQA team working on quality issue resolution;
  • Participate in tools and methodologies improvements;
  • Participate in project planning and review;
  • Track and manage all software development team training activities.


  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering or equivalent;
  • Five years of experience in software development;
  • Minimum two years of experience in an SQA role;
  • Very good understanding of SDLC (software development life cycle);
  • Relevant experience with Git or equivalent;
  • Relevant experience in software testing (unit testing, regression testing);
  • Relevant experience with static code analysis;
  • Relevant experience with CI/CD environments;
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively;
  • Strong documentation skills;
  • Result-oriented;
  • Proactive, self-starter, capable of working independently;
  • Adapt quickly and easily to changes within the organization.


  • Experience with Bitbucket, Artifactory, Jenkins;
  • Experience with Doxygen and best code documentation practices;
  • Experience with Sonarqube or equivalent;
  • Experience with C/C++/C# programming languages;
  • Experience with DOORS or equivalent;
  • Experience in Secure SDLC (software development life cycle);
  • Experience with ISO 13485 - Quality Management Systems;
  • Experience with IEEE 730-2014 - Standard for software quality assurance processes;
  • Experience with IEC 62304 - Medical device software;
  • Experience with DO-178C - Software considerations in airborne systems and equipment.
